Gifts from the Heart!!

Happy Father's Day to my wonderful husband, who means the world to us. The kids both made very thoughtful and heartfelt gifts to show their Dad, just how much he means to them. Lyssa decided to paint a picture for her dad. Her passion is drawing and creating, so she started planning out what she wanted to make a month or so ago, and her & I went and she picked her supplies and she developed her "plan". She did all of the handwriting on the canvas, the end result perfect and priceless! Drew then created a neat little note pad for him , from a little piece we had seen in a magazine. To show my appreciation and admiration for all he does for us, I designed him a framable page, that captured him with our kids. Small tokens of a huge love for a wonderful Father, Husband and Best Friend. You rock Hon & we love you so!!!

Troop Celebration!!

We had a year end BBQ for our Brownie troop on Monday night, and it was so much fun!!! The girls got all of their earned try it badges as well as quite a few fun badges, along with a beautiful certificate (created by Joanne) and some other great little treats. We also presented all the girls with their earned incentives from cookie sales, What a great night, and what a ton of fun. We have the most awesome families and a great group of girls. It is such a treat and delight to work with them. Joanne, thank you so much for hosting & for all you do for our troop, you are such a treasure to all of us.

This past week has been so much fun and filled with lots of fun projects to show and give thanks .

This was a year end gift for Alyssa's teacher: It was a book of memories from the kids to their beloved teacher. Each child had their own page and got to write their response to: "Mrs. Sarsilmaz is special because . . . " Their teacher loved it and really enjoyed reading each of their sweet responses. Then we created a magnet for each of the kids in the class. The kids were so excited to see their sweet little faces turned into a treasured refrigerator adornment.

Some Last Day of School Fun!!!

I made these with the kids as a little kick off for summer and a celebration of their upcoming grade!! Alyssa wore hers the last day of school and Drew were his to drop her off & pick her up. The kids really had a lot of fun doing them !! P.s. It was pajama day at school.

To a year of 1sts!!!

This school year has been a huge year of growth and changes for Alyssa. She went from a Kindergarten schedule of 3 hours a day to a 1st grade schedule of 6 hour a day. While the transition was a bit of a challenge in the beginning, she quickly adapted beautifully. There were a lot of 1sts this year for her; her 1st field trip, her 1st time on a school bus, her 1st school lunch . She whole heartedly embraces each and every new experience with a joy and an excitement.

I am so proud and amazed by all that she has learned this year. We started the school year reading to her every night, now she is confidently and enthusiastically reading us stories (and anything else that comes across our path) every day. She has learned how to do double digit addition and has a basic understanding of fractions. I am just in awe of what her young mind is able to comprehend. As first grade comes to a close, I am excited for the adventure that awaits her next year, but even more excited to have a summer full of fun with my soon to be 2nd grader!!

A Fun Craft for our new Feathered Friends

As I had mentioned in a previous post, we have a newly hatched nest of sparrows taking up residence in our backyard, so the kids and I found this really great craft in the May edition of Family Fun magazine and knew we had to do it for our new feathered friends.

In Another Ear

I recall the excitement that Drew would get for Alyssa when she was loosing her teeth, and he would ask us when is the tooth fairy going to come visit me? At that time we told Drew in probably about a year or so. Then he would excitedly tell everyone we came in contact with "in another ear" the tooth fairy will be coming to visit me. Hearing his confident proclamation with such a cute little twist always brings a smile to my face. Well my dear friends. . the wait is over . .
