This has started to become my go to recipe for Chocolate frosting, it is so yummy and contains things that I almost always have on hand. Found the original recipe here.
3Tbsp. Butter
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 Tbsp. milk
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. Vanilla
Melt butter in a small saucepan add cocoa and remove from heat. Stir in remaining ingredients until smooth. It will thicken a bit as it stands, so I recommend using the frosting immediately after it is prepared if you need to spread it. So tasty and wonderfully delicious, I have even made it to frost our homemade doughnuts or for the kids to spread on graham crackers.

For 2010. . . . .
As we enter the "New Year", I often find myself reflecting back and refocusing. I've never been a huge believer in New Years Resolutions, as I believe that we should not wait for the new year to make resolutions, but rather make, revisit and redirect our goals and our focus continually to meet our current life situation and the needs of our family.
When I think of the big picture of a year and what I would like to change or gain this year, the resounding theme seems to be finding balance. As is true with most of us moms, I find that a large portion of my day goes into the health and well being of all the others in my family, with little time left to focus on my growth and development. So, I have promised myself that I will make the time for ME this year. In order to do this, I really needed to look at the things that I felt were in need of a little more attention. After a lot of thought and prayer, I discovered that I really had a huge desire to have consistent planned on and dedicated time studying the word of God. Time that was quiet and I could reflect upon the scripture that was before me that day.
I have tried to develop a bit more of a routine for myself in the morning (before our actual day begins). I have come to really treasure this time. I get up, see DH off to work and then I spend the next 30 to 60 minutes as quiet time, reading my bible and doing my devotional, this has really helped me to start my day headed in the right direction and with a gracious and thankful heart. Then I try to get some sort of exercise in, and lastly in the shower and out before the kids get up and we start our morning routine.
I also have had a desire to pursue a dream that I have held near to my heart for many years, but it just never seemed to be the right timing to take the steps necessary to turn that dream into a reality. In order to begin this proces (thanks to a wonderfully supportive family) in 2 weeks, I will return to school and begin down that path with anticipation and joy that is beyond words. I am looking forward to a new direction and new opportunities with a heart full of hope and thanks.
As I look towards the added commitment that will come with returning to school myself, I kept thinking I have to have a plan for the house, or it is going to become overwhelming. In my search for a workable, plausible solution, I discovered this website (love it!!!)
So . . . . I am thrilled to welcome and embrace all the 2010 has to offer. Promising to make time for myself this year to come and chasing my dreams with the wind at my back and the sun on my face =) Looking forward to the journey!
