HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY DEAR SON!!

Today our sweet boy turns 5. What a blessing it is to be his momma. Drew has the most caring and affectionate personality. Thought I would share some of the highlights of my day that are touched by his fun loving and kind hearted spirit.

In the morning, he greets us every morning with a cheery "good morning", as he plops down on his behind to go down the steps one by one to make the great adventure downstairs to start his day. Once downstairs and at the table he will start to inquire about our plans for the day. Whatever the day has in store, Drew is sure to have a wonderful time doing it, bringing joy and giggles to all parts of the journey.

As it becomes close to time to pick up his adored big sister from school, he can hardly contain himself. Once we arrive at the school, he bounces across the crosswalk and runs up to the gate and excitedly awaits his chance to see his big sister. The second he can see her from the gate he rushes over to the entrance to wait for her, to be the first to greet her and give her "a snuggle."

Then as we come home and get settled in and await Daddy's return from work, the second he hears the garage door open he bolts out in a mad race to be the first one to get the "first hug" and "first kiss" from his Daddy. This is a game that started about 6 months ago and has turned into great fun, when the garage door opens, we all drop what we are doing and dart for the door to excitedly greet Lanny as he returns home from work. It is a great way to start out our evening together as a family, as everyone is laughing and in great spirits.

Then as our day draws to a close and we are tucking him in , he has created this ritual that I will be sad to see go, someday. It starts with a goodnight hug, then a kiss, sounds pretty routine right? Well then it continues with and Eskimo kiss, a butterfly kiss, a kissing hand, a snuggle, a glow worm hug (which is pretty much a bear hug, until your tongue comes out) and just recently added a puppy dog sniff (where through wild giggles, he informs me; " yep, smells like a momma"). This routine is such a delight to each of us, I hope it continues for quite some time.
